User-based Simulation Game Empty User-based Simulation Game

Post by MrPrez Tue 10 Apr - 17:01

This would be faaaaar down the road, but I thought I'd put the idea out there now so that people could discuss it.

Basically what I'm considering is eventually organising an on-forum game where forum users sign up as batsmen/bowlers/allrounders/keepers and form teams that would play matches against each other (simulated by me). There would be leagues, the ability to move clubs at certain times etc.

I don't know quite how complex I could make it - I would love to include stuff like postcounts affecting the ability of a player (not ridiculously - just enough to make being active an advantage). I don't know whether that would be doable, but we would see.

    Thoughts?

If people want a basic idea of how it would work (albeit on a much lower scale), check out Cricsim Smile

It should be fun. We need some members though. What we can do is at this moment, start some official league where we (whatever number of members) are the captains of different international teams. Then when people join in, we can swap them with real players.

I was thinking more along the lines of running it IPL style (except that matches probably wouldn't be 20/20) - Once we got say 30 members, I would choose 5 or 6 guys who would choose whether they wanted to become the owner of a team. They would then recruit other forumers into their teams, and then I would simulate matches. Teams would be fictional - not like SA, the owners would make up their own franchise name, logo etc.

    Thoughts?

I understand that. But, that's only possible if there are people here. I suggested an alternate till we get those many members. Fictional teams can be brought in later too when we get the people.

That sounds like an idea for now, using Cricket Captain? I only have Cricket Captain III (2007) and you have the power to rename players... but not much more.

No, not Cricket Captain. We can use Cricket Simulator (CricSim). They use it everywhere. Pretty easy to use as well.

I know of it, I am on the site "cricsim" :p But does it have actual international squads? Or must you make them up yourself?

We can make them ourselves. As I said, pretty easy to do so. Just need to enter some rough bat and bowl averages and you're done.

Can be downloaded from there. It also has WC 2003 squads so, you can check out and simulate a few matches. I've some of the team files (virtual) if you need them to see how it works.

Edit : Cannot post an external link..
